Pride in the Face of Prejudice

The parties for San Francisco's Pride Week could have extra resonance this year with the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on Proposition 8 and DOMA expected to arrive this week. Whether it's a victory celebration or a moment of solidarity, a week of events culminates this weekend at Civic Center with the annual party and parade. Leading into the weekend, Canadian electro group Austra is at the Independent and burlesque queen Dita Von Teese takes over the Fillmore for four nights (win tickets here). Pink Mammoth hosts a DJ block party at Mighty and Obey the Kitty brings Caspa back to Vessel. The Golden Glass and Pinot Days give wine aficionados something to sip on and designer shoe legend Jimmy Choo is in the house for the first event of a new Fashion Brunch Series.
