Film Festival

With the start of May comes the start of San Francisco's free festival season, which doesn't wrap up until October with Hardly Strictly Bluegreass. Our guide to all of the best free festivals provides a look at what's in store. This week, there's another reason to enjoy San Francisco's urban landscape with Bike to Work Day. Slim's hosts a classic punk rock double-header with The Dead Milkmen and Off! and the dance floor gets hot with The Gathering and Dirtybird Hatched. Roger Waters brings a taste of Pink Floyd to AT&T Park with The Wall tour and Brian Jonestown Massacre is back at The Fillmore with a new album and riffs that channel the ghosts of 60s psychedelia. The beats get some shine, too, with Peter Coyote reading poetry by Lawrence Ferlinghetti before a screening of the film Ferlinghetti.

Weekly Giveaway: What was your favorite children's book when you were growing up? Tell us for a chance to win passes to see a preview screening of Snow White and The Huntsman on Tue May 29!
