THE YUKO MABUCHI TRIO

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Yuko Mabuchi started playing classical piano at age 4, in her hometown of Fukui, Japan. As a teenager she was fascinated by American R&B, Hip-Hop and Blues. After hearing the music of some of the Jazz greats, she fell in love with Jazz and after high school began her study jazz piano. She was soon performing locally as a soloist, and as a member of a local jazz trio.

Fast forward to 2010, and Yuko Mabuchi decided to take her talent beyond the shores of Japan. She moved to Los Angeles to further her studies and was soon performing in some of the city's prime venues. As her music career took off, she held close her commitment to giving back to the community. For nine years, she has been volunteering as an accompanist for the Watts-Willowbrook Youth Orchestra, a selfless act that didn't go unnoticed. The City of Los Angeles recognized her efforts with a commendation, appreciating her dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians.

The Yuko Mabuchi Trio has performed at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, opening for Branford Marsalis, Blues Alley in Washington DC as a guest of the National Cherry Blossom Japanese Jazz series, the Richmond Jazz Festival (VA), Detroit Institute of the Arts, SanFranciscoJazz, the Walt Disney Hall (LA), as featured pianist with ICYOLA, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, to name a few

Over the years, Mabuchi's discography has grown to include six phenomenal albums.: "Waves" (Vista Records, 2011) "My Life" (Vista Records, 2014) collections of original compositions. Her project, "The Yuko Mabuchi Trio" (Yarlung Records, 2017) was recorded LIVE at USCs Cammilleri Hall, and topped the audiophile charts. Her fourth project, "Tribute To Miles," (Yarlung Records, 2019) was awarded "Jazz Album of the Year" by Native DSD, has been released on CD and vinyl. "YUKO," is a double CD, 2020 release. (Vista Records) Her latest project entitled "The Caribbean Canvas" (Vista Records 2022) blended the flavors of the Caribbean with Yuko's personal style.

In Mabuchi's upcoming project,"QUANTUM" (SRG Jazz/Universal) you'll hear a harmony of Jazz and Classical, a tribute to her belief in the "oneness" of music. Through her unique fusion of genres, she paints a universal language of rhythm and melody that speaks to the heart of audiences worldwide, a unique musical experience that will leave you touched and inspired.
