After six years, countless drinks and a whole lot of Joy Division, Cure, New Order, LCD Soundsystem, Cut Copy and Empire of the Sun, one of San Jose's best alternative dance parties is saying goodnight--forever. The Workout, which began in 2008 at Agenda Lounge and later moved to its current home at Johnny V’s, was founded as an alternative to the standard Top 40 dance scene, where DJs could spin weirder, darker and more obscure dance music than the mainstream clubs would ever play. Like the Adult and Atomic dance parties hosted at The Blank Club, it was one of the better places to end your night after catching a punk show at The Caravan, or taking down too many shots of Jamo at Cinebar.
