at Desta Gallery (see times)
Desta Galley presents The Way of Art – a new exhibit for winter of 2015, featuring paintings, bronze sculptures and jewelries from local Bay Area artists. The public is invited to a meet and greet artist reception on December 11th. Desta’s renowned hand-blended tea infused cocktails, wine and light appetizers will be served.

Michael Snodgrass

Michael Snodgrass is a Monterey based artist whose work is best described as Abstract Primitive with a nod to the neo-expressionists of 1980’s New York. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, California, the collection of the Carmel Art Institute as well as many private collections in Los Angeles, Aspen, Colorado, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dallas, Texas and Washington, D.C. His work is readily identifiable by the bold use of color, wild, unruly surfaces and primitive figures that disturb or amuse.

Jeffrey Nemeroff

Jeffrey Nemeroff was raised near Los Angeles where he began studying art at an early age. After obtaining a BFA in art and design, he became the art director of Architectural Digest magazine where he was the creative lead for many years. While at the magazine Nemeroff continued his fine art education and began exhibiting his work. Nemeroff uses oil on canvas collaged with string, intermittently incorporating fabric swatches or wallpaper. He has been included in various exhibitions in both the United States and Asia, including the Asian Art Museum in Fukuoka, Japan, and a solo exhibition at Neuhoff Gallery in New York’s famous Fuller Building. His work can be found in collections throughout Los Angeles, New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Atlanta, Palm Springs, Seattle, Europe and the Middle East. Nemeroff currently lives and works in San Francisco, California.

Robert Cantor

Art and sculpture have been a life long passion for Robert Cantor. He has studied with Alan Kaprow (Rutgers University), Mogens Moller (Royal College of Copenhagen), Jesus Mendes (Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende), and Jack Kreutzer (Loveland, Colorado). Cantor’s figurative sculptural work depicts human character and experience. He has enjoyed continuous representation in art galleries in California. His prize-winning work has been collected throughout the United States; featured in the 2005 spring issue of "Direct Art Magazine", and awarded a coveted place in 2006's "Best Artists of California". Bob Cantor has been a clinical psychologist in San Francisco since 1973. He was an Associate Professor at UCSF and has been in private practice for over thirty years.

Francesca Kennedy

Francesca Kennedy is a noted designer and metal smith based in San Anselmo, California. Her work reflects her deep love of the natural world, incorporating fossils, unique stones and pearls into pieces that encourage a relationship between them and their owners. She previously designed semi couture clothing for women, performance clothing for rock musicians, and residential gardens and interiors. Her work has been featured at Wilkes Bashford, Neiman-Marcus, and with select clients throughout the United States and Japan. She is currently focused on metalwork for jewelry and tableware, and is exploring the potential of metal to be shaped like fabric.

Bettina Schneider

Bettina Schneider is a San Francisco artist who designs and crafts jewelry mainly in sterling silver, bronze and copper. Originally from Germany, she moved to San Francisco in 1994 where she was introduced to jewelry design while taking classes at the Randall Museum in 1998. It was there where she discovered her passion for working with metal. Over the next decade, she found mentors and teachers who introduced her to a broad range of techniques to manipulate metal and to create functional and wearable objects of beauty. Bettina has centered her collection of jewelry around inspirations found in nature. Her designs aim to abstract the essence of beauty and perfection that can be found all around us. Some of her pieces are one-of-a-kind pieces; others consist of limited production pieces.
