Napoleon Murphy Brock is no stranger to those familiar with the music of Frank Zappa. As the iconic front man for Zappa's most infamous 1970's ensemble, Brock helped breathe life into many of Frank's most enduring compositions over the course of 4 albums including Zappa's penultimate live release, Roxy and Elsewhere. Along with fellow collaborators George Duke, Ruth Underwood, the Fowler Brothers, Ralph Humphries and Chester Thompson, Brock secured a place in music history through the transformative power of Frank Zappa's influence on the evolution of Jazz-Rock fusion.
Decades later, the Grammy Award winning San Jose native's voice is as strong as ever - still boasting a 4-octave range - and his magnetic personality as an entertainer and front man still dominates the stage. Marking his first opportunity to ever perform Frank's music in his home town, Napoleon will be fronting the world premier of San Jose's own Stinkfoot Orchestra on April 3rd at the Art Boutiki.
This 15-piece tribute to Zappa pulls no punches - delivering Frank's music with power, authenticity and musical prowess. Founded by 35-year veteran of the San Jose music scene, Nick Chargin, the Stinkfoot Orchestra was created in anticipation of celebrating Zappa's 80th birthday at the end of 2020. This "home town sneak preview" show provides a glimpse of what the ensemble will bring to the greater Bay Area in December of this year. Tickets are available now along with a VIP package which includes a pre-show lecture and meet-and-greet with Brock.
