at San Jose City College Theater (see times)
Feb 22 at 8PM; Feb 23 at 2PM; Feb 28 at 8PM; Feb 29 at 2PM; Mar 1 at 2PM

LYRIC THEATRE, in our 47th year of high quality live musical theater productions, offers a classic by the most famous musical theater duo of England, WS Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.

Fully staged, with orchestra and subtitles. Free pre-show talks one hour before curtain.

"The Sorcerer" is Gilbert and Sullivan's third collaboration, and their first surviving full length work. You'll leave the theater humming its many bright tunes.

Synopsis: Alexis, a well-meaning but misguided young man in love with Aline, believes that true love would solve all the world's problems. He engages a sorcerer to create a love potion for all the villagers to drink. The spell puts them to sleep for 12 hours after which they will fall in love with the first unmarried person of the opposite gender they meet (after all, this IS Victorian England).

The resulting pairings are unexpected and intolerable. How can the spell be reversed?

Stage Director: David Bamberger
Music Director/Conductor: Michael Taylor
Producer: Chris Frye

Discounts available for Groups.

$15-$40.

Presented by Lyric Theatre of San Jose.
