THE SILHOUETTE ERA, The Y Axes, Seemway

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Silhouette Era practically define Northern California's own brand of garage-surf; not that of summer heartache, but of the sheer adrenaline of first loves. Influenced by the raw minimalism of bands like Pixies and The Stooges, the band creates blasts of scuzzy hooks similar to acts like Wavves and FIDLAR. The group writes from their own experiences originating in the sunny surf town of Monterey, but now find themselves relocated to the hectic city life of San Francisco. With their upcoming release, the band brings a healthy dose of musicianship to their ethos of making fun music geared towards creating rowdy, communal live shows.

The Y Axes are a San Francisco based indie outfit who play a unique blend of dreamy, synth-glossed pop and rhythmically muscular rock. Alexi's lyrics cut through the intricate riffs of guitarist Devin, while bassist Jack and drummer Paul lock up the rhythm with double-bass kicks and slaps. They combine intricate instrumentations and ethereal vocal melodies to create pop that is simultaneously energetic, anthemic, heartbreaking, and hard-hitting.

Seemway tends toward texturally and energetically dynamic pop songs. These are songs not not indebted to the lineages of psychedelia, garage, krautrock, and electronic, but songs mostly in service to the initial and oftentimes accidental improvisations which birthed them. Every song has evolved through dozens of iterations, iterations we've played and unplayed across practice spaces, houses and venues.
