The School of the Dead presents: Death 101
In this moment that we are alive, death is all around us. Yet, many of us have inherited a death-phobic orientation to life that undermines our ability to be present with mortality. Each death is an opportunity to review our personal and cultural narratives of loss that inform how we show up for life, work, and love. Hosted by Angela Hennessy, Oakland-based artist and associate professor at California College of the Arts, this workshop is an opportunity to reflect upon the systems that shape our relationship with Death and the Dead themselves. The School of the Dead is an educational program that partners with the Dead and creates meaning for the living.
