The San Francisco Marathon (TSFM) is a "city takeover" kind of event with multiple road closures. Please check out the race course to ensure that you don't get stuck if traffic hell. Better yet, walk over to the closest street the runners are passing by and spend a few minutes cheering them on. Most races take place on Sunday, but most significantly, the ultramarathon begins on Saturday.
Runners will take part in one of the these races:
* full marathon
* two half-marathons
* 10K
* two 5K races
* 1K mad dash
* ultramarathon - one of the country's few extended distance races with an urban course.
Race day will bring runners from the Bay Area, all 50 states and 79 countries.
Join thousands of runners and spectators at The San Francisco Marathon Expo Presented by Capital One® and experience the best in running, health, and nutrition.
The race usually sells out, so get your registration taken care of and keep training. You'll be joined by local and visiting runners, running courses that feature the city's iconic landmarks and neighborhoods.
Impact on San Francisco Neighborhoods and Suggested Detours - Road Closure notices will be posted.
