at Roaring Camp (see times)
The Redwood Mountain Faire returns for its 8th year on Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4, to Roaring Camp in Felton. Featuring 22 bands on two stages, the Faire has a special appeal to all ages. The setting welcomes with an expansive grassy meadow with sheltering oak trees and a shaded creekside, all surrounded by redwood forest in the beautiful San Lorenzo Valley. It’s an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay area.

Activities beckon all ages, with special appeal to music lovers and families. Renowned for its juried arts and crafts vendors, there are also fun activities for kids, great food, inspired local micro-brews, wines & ciders, and entertainment surprises each day.

One stage is on the open Meadow, bordered by vendors’ booths; the other is nestled among trees Creekside. This year more than ever, everyone will find a favorite genre of music while enjoying bands with many unique and exciting style blends. You won’t have an easy time choosing between Sunday and Saturday’s line-up, so plan to come both days, all day, rain or shine, for a perfect weekend.

Headlining on Sunday, legendary founders of the current Americana scene – Grammy winners with a collection of blues songs to inspire -- Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin with The Guilty Ones will crown the day. The amazing Poor Man’s Whiskey -- an old-time bluegrass and psychedelic blues/jam rock band -- moves from acoustic to electric with exciting improvisation. Up from LA, The Dustbowl Revival brings funk rhythm with both brass and fast-picking stringband sections to keep the dancing crowd happy. The Stone Foxes are known as the San Francisco rock band, carrying on an amazing rock-n-roll tradition you will want to hear. The high energy of Painted Mandolin redefines Jerry Garcia’s repertoire with acoustic instruments and amazing original arrangements.

Earlier on Sunday, you’ll be dancing from stage to stage, grooving with Edge of the West‘s inventive Honky Tonk/Jam/ alt-country songs that keep you moving. The four musicians of Snap Jackson and the Knock On Wood Players have a unique and fresh, award winning acoustic blend of Americana, bluegrass, soul and old time music. Santa Cruz Mountains born and raised, Jesse Daniel and the Slow Learners will teach you to love their blend of Honky Tonk, rock & roll and country styles, while La Inedita flies in from Peru to surprise the crowd with exciting “dancehall chica” sounds. Another singer-songwriter from the Santa Cruz Mountains, Taylor Rae has a fresh, young “Soul and Roll” style that will rock your spirit. Whiskey West combines the sounds of outlaw country, bluegrass and honky tonk to create toe tapping, good time sound, so get there early to join them to start your Sunday!

Cracker will top off Saturday with a masterful performance, grounded on twenty-five years of performing alt-rock, Americana, insurgent-country, and even classic-rock and punk -- you’ll love everything they play. Joining the Faire from Austin, Texas, Carolyn Wonderland is a musical force, with soulful vocals of Janis Joplin and the guitar slinging skills of Stevie Rae Vaughn.

A bit earlier, you’ll experience the Winner of 2016 Best of the Bay (Best Band Bay Guardian) with Katdelic, whose sophisticated and futuristic hybrid of funk, soul, EDM, rock and pop will keep you dancing! A great contrast is the rootsy folk-blues, R&B, rock n’ roll music of fast-rising stars – more Santa Cruz Mountain musicians —The Coffis Brothers & The Mountain Men. The dancin’ music of The Nibblers, with blistering horns, meaty rhythm section and soul singing — inspired by R&B, Funk and Soul —will also keep you moving as they have in music festivals from High Sierra to the Hangtown Halloween Ball. The esteemed musicians of Sherry Austin With Henhouse — whose voices and instruments combine with warmth and passion in amazingly sweet love songs and gritty, rockin’ songs— have harmonies to inspire everyone in the crowd.

Victor Krummenacher and His Flying Circus know how to play, and bring amazing talent to the stage to support Victor, who has rocked and moved audiences since the 1980’s with his profound lyrics and the band’s bluesy, folky, soulful sound. Lyrics are also inspirational when sung by The Banana Slug String Band, still performing songs for “kids” in a variety of catchy musical styles, after thirty years. The music of these Eco-Warriors will inspire all to love and learn about the Earth. More local talent shines with Olde Blue, whose love of traditional blues shapes the feeling of their lively and soulful songs. To entice folks to arrive as the Faire opens, Bryn Loosley and the Back Pages are coming up from Santa Cruz with award-winning songs that show the richness of the Americana music category. The other great opener, Ginger & Juice also proves the remarkable range of talent from the Santa Cruz area, and will get the day moving with a blend of smooth ‘70’s yacht rock and groove-rich, toe-tappin’ R&B.

All in all, The Redwood Mountain Faire is a memory-making, feel-good event that has provided well over $250,000 to over 20 local nonprofit, school, and service organizations since 2010. This has been possible, despite the bargain price of tickets, because everyone organizing and staffing the Faire is a volunteer.
