at Cafe Stritch (see times)
It's been four years since local indie-rock power quartet the Record Winter have released a full length (though there was an EP in 2011). This Saturday, they return with their latest LP, Sleeptalking, their official follow-up to their self-titled moody, dreamy, indie-rock LP from 2009. Sleeptalking is heavier and darker than their last record-and a lot more tripped-out. They're really flaunting their psychedelic and garage-rock influences this time around, though the songs at their core are still slow, surreal indie-folk ballads. The new album is so intense and emotional that lead singer Dominic Miranda at times sounds like he's coming unglued at the seams. Cartoon Bar Fight's Kendall Sallay contributes some gorgeous vocals to the track "Kevin and Winnie." (Aaron Carnes)
