The Quilters

The Quilters are a difficult to categorize band. From San Francisco, California, the group of multi-instrumentalists combines elements of alt-rock, folk, americana, and indie-pop, with the band’s mini horn section bringing out a little blue-eyed soul.
Songwriters Ray and Jerome Porter regularly rotate between keys, bass, guitar, singing lead, or joining in vocal harmonies. Devin Pugliese, a fellow surfer and Sunset District loc’, chops it up on bass and percussion. Tim Hunt sings harmonies and plays trombone alongside Gianluca Bullock’s trumpet.
The Quilters’ live shows are raucous and dynamic affairs, with the band constantly swapping instruments throughout the set. Ray, Jerome, and Tim’s background in classical choral music shines in their intricate vocal harmonies, but not at the expense of their love for distorted guitars, dance-inducing drums and California Honey Drops-esque horns. The Quilters belong in no familiar genre, but their sound is familiar and intriguing. The Quilters are unlike any band in the Bay Area, and are not to be missed.
