"The Printers Series"

Gruenwald Press presents artwork from the California Society of Printmakers’ first season of artist residencies. The exhibition of all newly completed prints will open with a day of artist talks on Saturday March 28th, from 4pm to 7pm. In 2014 the California Society of Printmakers created an artist residency program designed to promote collaborations between artists and Bay Area master printers. For the first edition of The Printers Series artist residencies, three California Society of Printmakers member artists were selected by featured master printmakers from around the Bay Area. Each residency received a stipend to facilitate a project focused in the area of specialty of the master printmaker. Carrie-Ann Plank worked with master printer Paul Mullowney at Mullowney Printing to create four new large scale editions using the technique of photo gravure; Joanna Kidd worked with master printer John Gruenwald at Gruenwald Press to create three new editions of stone lithographs; Toru Sugita worked with master printer Thomas Wojak at The W.O.R.K.S. to create large format screen prints.
