Evan Pittson presents a modern direction for the post-Coltrane language on the Electric Viola, with influences including Jean-Luc Ponty and Michael Brecker. The Pittson Family Band presents an eclectic array of material that explores a diverse spectrum of sonic colors.Suzanne PittsonJazz vocalist Suzanne Pittson is recognized for her musicianship, phrasing and technical facility as an improviser. All About Jazz states: “More than just a singer, Suzanne Pittson is a jazz musician,” and Jazz Inside says, “Some controversy exists over just what makes a jazz vocalist. Listen to Suzanne Pittson and you’ll know.” Ms. Pittson has performed and/or recorded with John Patitucci, Buster Williams, Dave Liebman, Mike Clark, Steve Wilson, Jeremy Pelt, Harvie S, Mark Soskin and others, and has released three critically-acclaimed CDs: Blues and the Abstract Truth, Resolution: A Remembrance of John Coltrane, and Out of the Hub: The Music of Freddie Hubbard. Suzanne is Assistant Professor of Jazz Vocal Studies at the City College of New York, where she directs the BFA jazz vocal program.
Jeff PittsonJeff Pittson is a dynamic force in the world of jazz piano, having performed with such luminaries as Joe Henderson, Ruth Brown, Eddie Henderson, Buster Williams, John Patitucci, Steve Wilson, John Handy, Jack Walrath, Craig Handy, Larry Coryell, Ruth Brown, Maynard Ferguson, Kenny Garrett, Buster Williams and many others. He brings a deftness of touch, a virtuoso technique and a poet sensibility with his fine originals, jazz standards and imaginative arrangements of the Great American Songbook. He is the leader on his two highly acclaimed releases, Go Where It's Dangerous and Invisible Love on Vineland Records. The late Phil Elwood, a quintessential jazz critic, wrote in the San Francisco Examiner, "Jeff Pittson is a superb pianist!”
Evan PittsonEvan Pittson presents a modern approach to the viola in contemporary music. With his own voice as an improviser on the electric viola and 5-string violin, Evan brings a new musical context to these instruments, from a modern jazz sensibility, to a funk, to atmospheric sound design. Playing viola since the age of 12, he also plays bass guitar and keyboards. Evan also works as a freelance graphic designer, specializing in print & digital layout, illustration, and fontography.
