Fresh off a sold-out 9 show U.S. reunion tour in 2014 to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of their debut album, E Von Dahl Killed the Locals, Oakland, CA punk/pop/alternative band The Matches return to headline one of their favorite venues, The Fillmore, this December 27-28.In addition to EVDKTL, which garnered the band international attention, as well as their subsequent two full-length albums released on Epitaph Records, the band’s legacy is still largely based on the success of their guerrilla-style promotion of a fresh and self-sufficient scene of high school and college-aged bands and fans in the East Bay that fostered a thriving art-centric alternative rock scene for several years. After many years of touring internationally and selling out The Fillmore for a final show in 2009, The Matches disbanded amicably to explore other endeavors. Now, the original lineup of Justin SanSouci, Jon Devoto, Matt Whalen, and Shawn Harris are in their early thirties, and are coming together to honor their now-adult fans and nostalgists with a one-off performance filled with songs from their entire catalog at the legendary venue where they once said farewell. These 2 shows will be the band’s only live appearances in 2015.
