The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang plays the GD 3/29/90 show!
On 3/29/20 The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang will pay tribute to 30th anniversary of the legendary Grateful Dead performance on 3/29/90 at Madison Square Garden. The show was special because it was the first time the GD played with Branford Marsalis, and is probably the most famous show of their modern era. On this night, they played differently in deference to their esteemed guest and they created an amazing mix of jazz, rock and world music. The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang has added world class saxophonist Andrew Dixon (Maynard Ferguson, The Roots) to their lineup for the evening to recreate and reimagine the set list from that magical night. Joining Dixon are Jeannette Ferber (Phil Lesh and Friends, Stu Allen), Eric Levy (Garaj Mahal, Night Ranger), Erica Jeski (Phil Lesh, Terrapin Flyer), Pete Sawyer (Brightshine, Seconds On End), Murph Murphy (Stu Allen, Poor Man's Whiskey), and John Hanrahan (Stu Allen, Shakedown Street).
The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang explores the depth and breadth of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band catalog. Through conversational improvisation and deep listening, the Monkey Wrench Gang lets the music play the band, serving as a channel for the energy inherent in the Grateful Dead experience. For this gig, the Gang is: Carrie Adler, Jeannette Ferber, John Hanrahan, Eric Levy, Murph Murphy, and Pete Sawyer. With special guest Andrew Dixon on Saxophone.
