The Journey from Poet to Author: A Workshop with Diane Frank

SEE EVENT DETAILS
This is a class co-sponsored by MI and San Francisco Writers Conference/San Francisco Writers Foundation.

The theme of this workshop is transforming your poems into a book – the issues, the obstacles, and the joy. You will learn how to fine-tune your line, with a generous helping of advanced editing techniques, to prepare your manuscript for publication. Diane shares inside tips from a poetry publisher – so that every line sings and your poems express the language of your soul. Each poet is welcome to bring a poem for Diane’s close attention.
On the Journey from Poet to Author, we will explore:

Making sure your manuscript is ready.

Virtuoso editing techniques – writing a poem where every line sings.

Organizing your book for the best reading experience.

How to get published by Blue Light Press (and other poetry publishers)

Becoming an author – Readings and signings

After you register you will be invited via email to submit your poem to Diane Frank.
Diane Frank's teaching style is joyful, loving, and intuitive. She works closely with every writer to help you break through to a deeper level of expression. She is author of seven books of poems, including Canon for Bears and Ponderosa Pines. Diane teaches at San Francisco State University, Dominican University, and directs the Blue Light Press On-line Poetry Workshop. Blackberries in the Dream House, her first novel, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
