Born and raised in Davis, California, Nat has since toured up and down the West Coast throughout his high school and college careers with a variety of groups and venues. A recent graduate of the Evergreen State College, Nat focuses heavily on lyrics and melody as he composes with the goal of creating music that speaks to the experience of being human and interacting with the world around us.
Inspired by artists like Van Morrison and Mason Jennings, Symes creates an electric blend of acoustic and indie-folk ballads packed with lyrics that will have one laughing one minute and crying like a frickin baby the next. A singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, Jack Symes relocated up to Berkeley and dipped into the Bay Area folk scene until 2017 when he moved back down to LA. Symes released his debut EP Gargoyles in December 2016, followed up with his single Roll Me Away in March 2017. His music has since streamed over 350,000 times on Spotify in over 70 countries.
Covering most of the western US, Jack recently wrapped up his first tour of the west coast with long-time collaborator and friend Nat Lefkoff. Symes is now working on his first full-length album at Brushfire Records in Hollywood with all sorts of friends including singer-songwriters Gregory Ackerman and Nat Lefkoff, Tom Relling of Hibbty Dibbity, Brady Miller of Best Coast and others.
"Jack Symes is a California-based singer/songwriter who got in touch with us via email to send us his latest single, Set Me Free. We gave it a listen and within 20 seconds we were hooked. A blues-inspired, indie-folk ballad, Set Me Free is a wonderful introduction to Jack’s powerful, quivering vocals and emotive song-writing abilities. We’re certainly very excited to hear more from this young man and after listening to Set Me Free, we think you will too." ---- Mahogany, 2017
