The Fillmore Eclipse: An Immersive Theatre Experience

Step into the Eclipse, a 1950s late-night jazz club, with this dazzling new immersive theatre experience that will transport you into the heart of the Be-bop Jazz era. With special session musicians such as John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, and Charlie Parker, the Eclipse was a confluence point for San Francisco's thriving African American community and Japanese Americans returning from internment camps.

In this multi-layered experience, audiences interact with a live band, a range of actors, and hidden artifacts to explore a crucial moment when San Francisco's modern housing policy was being formed and a successful black business neighborhood was about to be erased.

Audiences will step away with a personal understanding of San Francisco's "Harlem of the West" and the legacy it left behind in the city's art and housing worlds.

The family-friendly show will feature a live band playing standards and originals inspired by the Bop era. There will also be a full bar with themed drinks, a back patio bar, and hidden spaces to explore.

The Fillmore Eclipse is produced by Walking Cinema, a San Francisco-based experiential media studio. The show is an extension of their award-winning audio and augmented reality experience: Museum of the Hidden City (2020). The show will take place in Honey Art Studio, a gallery owned by Ericka Scott, a champion for the Fillmore's history and art.

Produced in partnership with Z-Space and funded through grants from the Haas Creative Work Fund, Rainin, Zellerbach, and the California Arts Council.

For a more immersive and impactful way to get tickets, see the show's GoFundMe page where tax deductible donations will get you tickets and bonus experiences.

$30 for students and artists, $50 for reserved table, $80 for VIP (table and a drink).

Presented by Walking Cinema.
