Sept 24, 8pm-9:30pm AND Sept 25, 5pm-6:30pm
A young woman, near death, must choose between life with a man she doesn't know and death with her beloved, who has possessed her as a dybbuk--a deceased soul who takes possession of a living body. The multimedia chamber opera was composed by Ofer Ben-Amots and inspired by S. Ansky's timeless Yiddish play.
Folk elements intertwine with contemporary musical textures to create a haunting world, while multiple video projections tell a powerful story of faith, mysticism and passion.
The OFJCC presents the West Coast premiere with the performance in both English and Hebrew with supertitles.
