Join us to celebrate the power and ethereal beauty of unaccompanied choral works by celebrated Russian composers. Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto for Choir is a four-movement work setting to music the sacred poetry of Armenian monk Grigor Narekatsi. The program also includes selections from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, a work inspired by ancient Russian Chant but suffused with a spirit of modernism.
Additional performances:
March 9, 4:30pm, Mission Santa Clara de Asis, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA., 95053
March 10, 4:30pm, at St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, 500 De Haro St., San Francisco, CA., 94107
