The Choral Project, the award winning Silicon Valley-based choir, is pleased to announce its annual summer concert EARTHSONGS: LEGENDS & LORE (featuring premieres by winners of TCP's Composition Contest for youth composers), June 9, 10 & 11, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz.
The EARTHSONGS: LEGENDS & LORE concert program also explores myth & mysticism, legend & lore, and love & light. The diverse selection of repertoire includes Ola Gjeilo's Renaissance-inspired Unicornis Captivator, R. Murry Schafer's other-worldly Epitaph for Moonlight, and Charles Villier Stanford's sublime setting of The Blue Bird. Other gems include A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square (made popular by The Manhattan Transfer), Artistic Director Daniel Hughes' arrangement of Stephen Sondheim's beautiful ballad Send in the Clowns, and a fully choreographed rendition of Harry Belafonte's thrilling anthem of life Turn the World Around.
