The Chappening: A Chapel Staff Showcase
Silent Pictures, André Moya, Golfball Jr, Polkadot
plus DJ Walkin' Love, Tylawave

Silent Pictures

Silent Pictures is a bay area band seasoned with all the traditions and elements of British shoegaze and psychedelia. The Silent Pictures sound has been described as a mélange of shoegaze and with a strong Roxy Music presence in their sphere of sound. Combining elements of shoegaze and dreampop, the sound could so easily be misinterpreted, they create a warm bubble around their music, giving it a sense of stability and control. A Silent Pictures live show has been described as a long lingering moment.

Dave Conrad (drums)
Jafar Green (guitars, vocals)
Peter Dosanjh (bass)
Alexander Mann (guitars, vocals

André Moya

André Moya is a San Francisco based artist/multi-instrumentalist who started recording music while attending the San Francisco Art Institute in 2013.

Without any form of musical training or recording experience, Moya begun experimenting at home with a few instruments and some recording equipment eventually producing short instrumental pieces. Drawn to the music making approach of people like Brian Wilson and Phil Spector, he eventually set himself to recording a couple of singles with denser instrumentation and a more traditional pop structure. He released the series of singles in 2014 under his own name. Shortly after, while living in New York City, Moya released his first full length album "The Traveling Voice Of Certainty" which blended elements of late 60s and 70s classic rock and experimental music. He followed up the next year with the EP "Let It Ride", a series of songs written and recorded in Seattle.

Having honed in on a "sound", André (now back in San Francisco) released his second full length album "Carro Rojo" which introduced a few songs in Spanish and a wider spectrum of influences. It was during this time (2018) that André Moya came together as a full band and begun performing in the underground around the Bay Area.

"Volume I" the latest release (Moscow Sound Records) compiles what André Moya considers his best of, a sonic history spanning over six years of home recordings.

Polkadot

Polkadot started as a solo project by Daney Espiritu in 2016. It began as a way to start "seriously" songwriting amidst personal struggles in not feeling like a true "musician." Most early Polkadot songs were heavily influenced by guitar-based pop music and twee stylings, which carried over to early recordings featuring simple guitar lines and layered vocals. After a lot of begging (lol), Anton Benedicto joined Polkadot on drums. As a two-piece, Polkadot released a self-titled EP in 2018. For the next two years, Daney released singles that kept the original spirit of their solo project until adding Jordan Jones (bass) to the mix and releasing 2020's Feeling Okay.

Feeling Okay talks about loss (and being a sore loser), but finding space to feel alright.
