El Rio, your LGBT dive for almost 40 years, continues its tradition of supporting queer culture with Friday Live! Featuring the best in queer music from the Bay Area and beyond!
This month El Rio is pleased to present The Buds and OMB, two excellent bands whose members shared a bill celebrating Bisexual Visibility Day back in September.
Bay Area based OMB, featuring vocalist blue buddha, David Lofton on guitar, Marcus Rivers on bass, and Matthew Madore on drums, is the product of musicians who live for their love of music. We meld world music, R&B, jazz, rock, funk and punk, creating progressive and innovative sounds from our past and present.
The Buds whip up toddler moshpits at farmers markets all over the Bay Area. Grownups have been known to boogie along as well. Featuring Felix Bannon and Bryan Harrison on lead guitars, Jim McLaren on rhythm guitar and harmonica, and Elisa M Welch on keyboard and pennywhistle, the band delivers a range of genres too eclectic to pin down. What kind of music do we play? Excellent!
