Tenor, Soprano, and EWI saxophonist Ayo Brame was born and raised in Oakland, California. Ayo began his formal jazz studies at the Oakland School for the Arts. Initially a clarinetist, drummer, and bass player, Ayo discovered his passion for the saxophone during the pandemic, studying under the esteemed Richard Howell at Oaktown Jazz Workshops, further refining his skills at the Oakland Public Conservatory of Music, and later as part of the SF Jazz High School All Stars.
Ayo has dedicated countless hours to perfecting his craft, performing alongside his mentor, Kev Choce. Ayo is currently a freshman studying jazz at The New School of Music in Manhattan, New York.
His young career has already seen him headline back-to-back sold-out shows at Yoshi's for two consecutive years. His musical journey has taken him on tour throughout the continental United States, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Cuba. Looking ahead, Ayo is slated to perform in Cuba at the International Jazz Festival, Spain, Morocco, and Portugal, to name a few, in 2026.

Ayo Brame is a tenor saxophone jazz musician out of Oakland, California. He is a student at Oakland School for the Arts. He is trained by jazz great Richard Howell by way of Oaktown Jazz Workshops. He considers himself a purist when it comes to jazz as he channels late greats such as John Coltrane, and Wayne Shorter. Embraced by the jazz community, he has been very lucky in acquiring additional mentors that he has played with with such as Kev Choice, Howard Wiley, Terrace Martinn, Keyon Harrold, Stacy Dillard, Marcus Shelby and Eric Wyatt.This year he is touring in the United States, Brazil and Cuba. In addition to the tenor saxophone, he also plays the soprano & alto saxophones, clarinet, EWI, bass guitar and drums. He composes and arranges music and is currently recording his debut album entitle "Oakland in My Soul!" He plans to study music in New York after high school graduation .
