Apr. 5 - Apr. 27, 2023 with events Apr. 8, 27
Presented in conjunction with TASTE, Root Division's annual culinary event, Tending Gardens/Fertile Grounds features artists whose work highlights the growth, transformation, and nourishing potential that is possible when things are cared for and nurtured.
Several of the featured artists explore the theme directly using plant and food imagery as a starting point to explore care, growth, transformation, and nourishment. Others respond to the theme as a metaphor to examine topics such as Indigeneity, Blackness, kink, queerness, immigration, family, self-care, grief, and art-making, among others. The exhibiting artists explore these topics utilizing a diverse range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, textiles, soft sculpture, video, installation, and performance.
