Temple by Steve Waters at Grace Cathedral

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Don’t miss the opportunity to see the US premiere of this rich and deeply thoughtful play about St. Paul’s Cathedral and Occupy London in the gorgeous, site-specific, Gothic surroundings of Grace Cathedral’s Quire. Aurora Theatre Company brings their production (running April 14 to May 14) across the bay for one performance only.
In October 2011, Occupy London set up camp outside one of London’s most beloved institutions, St Paul’s Cathedral. Soon, the building that had famously survived floods, terrorist threats and the Blitz closed its doors, and the City of London took legal action against Occupy to remove protesters — by force if necessary. Steve Waters’ new play is a fictional account of the behind-the-scenes machinations by the church and city leadership, dramatizing the turmoil faced by principled, thoughtful people who must decide which of their ideals they’ll betray. Temple was a recent hit at London's Donmar Warehouse.
“A rich, deeply thoughtful piece about contemporary values.”- London Financial Times
Directed by Aurora Theatre Company's Artistic Director Tom Ross, and starring J. Michael Flynn, Sharon Lockwood, Leontyne Mbele-Mbong, Mike Ryan and Paul Whitworth.
