Temescal Street Cinema: a six week summer outdoor movie festival

Temescal Street Cinema: A six week free summer outdoor movie series featuring the work of Bay Area film and video artists with live acoustic music and food trucks.

Festival Dates: Every Thursday, June 19th through July 31st, excepting the week of July 4th.

Location and Time: 49th street between Telegraph and Clarke will be blocked off for the festival and all films will be projected onto the side of the Bank of the West Building. Food and music start at 8pm, and the films will begin once the sun goes down, around 8:45pm.

Opening Shorts: All opening shorts are selected by Shapeshifter’s Cinema, a curatorial project run by Gilbert Guerrero and Kathleen Quillian.

Food: Hella Vegan Eats will be at TSC every week from 7:30 to 9pm. Hella Vegan Eats is a Bay Area based food truck specializing in festive cuisine.

FIXED: The Science/Fiction of Human Enhancement by Regan Brashear
Exploring technologies that promise to change our bodies and mind forever, FIXED questions commonly held beliefs about disability and normalcy and examines the implications of emerging human enhancement technologies for the future of humanity.

This playful, abstract, experimental short film offers a glimpse into a weird and dream-like film world.

GENIUS OF MARION by Banker White
An intimate family portrait that explores the heartbreak of Alzheimer’s disease, the power of art and the meaning of family.

WOMEN ART REVOLUTION by Lynn Hershman Leeson
Through intimate interviews, art, and rarely seen archival film and video footage, reveals how the Feminist Art Movement fused free speech and politics into an art that radically transformed the art and culture of our times.

THE LAST SEASON by Sara Dossa
Told over the course of one matsutake mushroom season in Central Oregon, THE LAST SEASON is a journey into the woods, into the memory of war and survival, telling a story of family from an unexpected place.

Opening Short - Tommy Becker, Song for the Bird in My Back Yard (2002), 1:53 mins. An attempt to integrate with the mysterious world of birds through spoken word and audio feedback.
