In 2016, their DIY recording of "Jungle" catapulted them to international fame, with the YouTube clip receiving over 1.6 million views. In 2017, with just one EP under their belt, Sultana became the first pre-debut artist to sell out three shows at London's Brixton Academy. Flow State (2018) became Sultana's debut studio album, spawning the popular tracks "Mystik" and "Murder to the Mind," each showcasing Sultana's laid-back and soulful stylings. NME described the Aussie's second album, Terra Firma (2021), as "a record made by someone with something poignant to say." On March 13, 2023, Sultana released "James Dean," the lead single off their 2023 EP Sugar, as they prepared to embark on an expansive North American tour.
