Tammy Byerly and Jesse Loren Strickman (($10 before/$15 day of show))

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Tammy Byerly

Tammy's brother received a guitar for Christmas when she was twelve years old and she started sneaking in practice sessions when nobody was home. Impressed by her tenacity, her father bought her an electric guitar of her own and (to his dismay) she used it to start a punk band with some local trouble-makers. With a steady foundation of Green Day, Rancid and Misfits covers she grew into playing a vast array of genres from classic rock and hip hop to classical and pop.

It was in high school that she formed a pop band with drummer Jake Stockley and joined forces with Sunny Promyotin and his company Black Media.

After high school, she left Pleasanton to attend UC Santa Barbara. She studied abroad in Shanghai and Beijing taking courses in international business and Chinese language, performing live and appearing on Chinese television. Upon returning to Santa Barbara she continued to perform locally while focusing on completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business.

Following graduation, Tammy worked as a CPA managing accounting teams at KPMG, Warner Brothers and Fox Sports in Los Angeles, throughout the United States and in India. She performed when she could, from Bel Air Farmer's Market to open mics in Silverlake. However, her work schedule did not allow for much music.

She followed her heart back to the Bay Area to pursue music full-time and you can find her playing all over the SF Bay Area and live at Twitch.tv/Tammy_BlackMedia.

Jesse Loren Strickman

SF Bay Area singer-songwriter Jesse Loren Strickman is known for potent lyrics and powerfully minimal acoustic music. Emotionally charged vocals sail over jaunty acoustic chords in songs about personal love and social change.

Strickman’s music features many deep recurring themes. Personal stories of intimacy and heartbreak color a lot of his repertoire. He writes of depression, highlighting some of the darker chapters of his past, offering a bridge to those who are currently struggling. A songwriter since grade school, his music has also explored childhood, innocence, morality, romance, infidelity, loss, poverty, politics, the environment, and oneness of the universe.

Annually touring the Pacific West Coast as the frontman of his Indie Folk bands, Strickman has played everywhere from intimate cafes to outdoor amphitheaters and festivals. He’s opened for national and world famous acts such as Damien Jurado, Jay Brannan, CAKE, Aaron Ross (of Hella), Night Riots, Jhameel, Lech Wierzynski (of California Honeydrops), Minipop, The T Sisters and many more.

2018 marks a new beginning for Strickman as he begins performing under his own name as a singer/songwriter. With it, a new major theme to his music has emerged: a need for social change in today’s world.
