Sustainable Fashion: Mend, Thrift, Style and Sometimes Buy

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Fashion is self-expression. It's art. It's also responsible for roughly 10 percent of planet-warming emissions. But it doesn't have to be.

Join KQED climate reporter Laura Klivans and Remake to learn how fashion can be sustainable. We'll talk about mending basics and how to thrift like a champ, and we'll bring out professional stylists to teach us how to work with our favorite pieces so they shine anew.

One lucky audience member will get an on-the-spot styling session with Kara Fabella, a sustainably-focused stylist! When you purchase your ticket, you'll be automatically entered into the lottery to win that session. Kara will help you use what you already have in your closet to shine!

Featuring:

Hayley Colette (a.k.a. Pretzelegant): Educator at WorkshopSF, a DIY school for adults, offering affordable classes on crafting, painting, leather working, urban gardening, sewing & more.

Ayesha Barenbla: Founder and CEO of Remake, a global advocacy organization fighting for human rights and climate justice within the clothing industry.

Sarah Pinner: CEO and Co-founder of Beni, which finds best resale alternatives from across the internet in the click of a button.
Kara Fabella: Founder, The Flipp Side, an ethical style service.
