Susie Glaze & the Hilonesome Band

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Susie Glaze & the Hilonesome Band return to the Freight to play their own entertaining mix of Celtic-inspired originals and classic covers from artists like Steve Earle, James Taylor, and Jean Ritche. Roz Larman, host of KPFK’s FolkScene, says that Susie “has one of the most beautiful voices in bluegrass and folk music today. She performs a song straight from her heart and soul.” In the words of Entertainment Weekly, “she can blow the roof off any joint lucky enough to book her.” A Tennessee native who grew up in the shadow of the Grand Ole Opry, Susie moved to Southern California, recorded two solo albums, and formed the Hilonesome Band, featuring her husband Steve Rankin on mandolin, guitar, bouzouki, and banjo, songwriter Rob Carlson on guitar and dobro, Fred Sanders on bass, Mark Indictor on fiddle, and Susie herself on guitar, autoharp, and mountain dulcimer. She and the band have just released their fifth album together, White Swan, which the website Folkworks calls “one gorgeous album – a must discover,” praising the “exceptional musicianship” and “stunning, timeless ballads.”
