We are pleased to present new work by a group of young NYC painters who are connected by an interest in textural abstraction. Organized by Russell Tyler, the works utilize impasto paint, irreverent patterns and wild colors as unifying themes. Some are sensuous and tactile, in some the paint is brushed, dripped, squeegeed, scraped and squeezed right out of the tube. Surface Matters investigates the rich results that are achieved when the focus of the painting is tuned into the paint itself.
