Each year our tribe communes in Belden, from the far reaches of the world, for a special weekend in the woods to celebrate, tell personal stories, share music and artistic creations. Then we continue on until we return to dance together again.
In the book The Alchemist, a young boy sets off on a journey to travel to Egypt to discover his Personal Legend, where the core theme of the story is "when you want something, all the Universe conspires in helping you achieve it." It's this that gives rise to our 2016 theme for Sunset Campout.
This year's theme is ~Bedouin Tales~ the embodiment of a collection of stories told through the eyes of those living amongst a semi nomadic tribe. Similar to Sunset Campout, in Bedouin culture, they gather for festivals of music, poetry and dance. Maybe you are traveling from afar just to come to the campout or maybe it's part of your annual journeys and it's one of the stops of that year, whichever it is, we all end up together for our magical weekend. Let this year's theme inspire you to share your story, your legend with the magic and mysticism of the ancient near east.
**The theme is not meant to be literal guide. It's intension is purely to trigger an abstract mental imagery or a feeling one can draw upon for inspiration that will connect us all for our amazing annual reunion in the woods.**
