Sundays with the St. Lawrence

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Sundays with the St. Lawrence with special guests Alexi Kenney, Phillip Ying, David Ying and Ising Silicon Valley.

Hailed by The New Yorker "not simply for the quality of their music making, exalted as it is, but for the joy they take in the act of connection," the acclaimed St. Lawrence continues its fabled partnership with Stanford. This season, the St. Lawrence enters a new creative era, presenting collaborative and innovative programs to include renowned guest artists, beloved old friends, Stanford students, and more.

Repertoire for this performance includes two newly commissioned arrangements by Stéphane Fromageot of lieder by Richard Strauss and Franz Schubert for Female Choir & String Quartet plus Tchaikovsky's magnificent "Souvenir de Florence".

Founded in 2013 by artistic directors Jennah Delp Somers and Shane Troll, award-winning girlchoir iSing Silicon Valley brings together more than 300 talented young singers in Silicon Valley, offers them rigorous musical and vocal training, and guides them toward the highest level of artistry. Celebrated for innovative choral education methods and for the extraordinary vocal blend and joyous singing of its choruses, iSing has built a deeply committed musical community in the Bay Area and beyond. iSing has also achieved recognition on the national and global stages through collaborations with world class artists and ensembles including the St. Lawrence String Quartet, Joyce DiDonato, Angel Blue, Barbara Bonney, Estelí Gomez, Meredith Monk, and Voces8; new music commission awards; and a World Choir Championship win at the World Choir Games in S. Korea (2023). iSing Silicon Valley can be heard in collaboration with Lesley Robertson (viola) and Jieyin Wu (harp) on a world premiere recording of Shara Nova's Winter Hymns (iSing commission, digital release). iSing can also be heard on albums love & light (Avie Records) and Here I Stand (Innova Recordings).
