Throckmorton’s Sunday Sessions Songwriter’s Circle features some of the best musicians in the Bay Area music scene. October 15th Songwriter's Circle features musicians Renee Wilson, Kress Cole, Joe New, and Dore Coller. Come be inspired and witness the magic of musical exploration and collaboration.

Proud New Orleans native Reneé Wilson began her professional acting career portraying Raelette Pat Lyle in the Academy Award -winning film, Ray, with Jamie Foxx. She has been seen on television, film and stage and recently co-produced and directed, Crepe Covered Sidewalks, a documentary film about Hurricane Katrina and her family's experiences with the storm over past five years. Reneé also recently released her debut CD, Voodoo Queen on Foxy As Roz records and I Was The One marks the first music video from this album. Currently Reneé lives in San Francisco and is screening her film at festivals around the country, composing and performing music and working on a tribute piece to one of her biggest influences Ms. Lena Horne.

Kress Cole is a queer Femme songstress from Oakland. She has won 26 WCS awards, including "Song of The Year" in both Berkeley and San Rafael, leading to three appearances in the annual Grand Finals, making her one of the top 15 songwriters of the year for the collective West Coast in 2017, 2015 and 2014. Her song "Seatbelt" earned a nomination for "2016 Lyric of the Year." Kress verb-ifies nouns, noun-ifies verbs, and is known for spiritually quirky strange little ballads like her new song and music video, "Married Ghosts" where lesbian ghosts do a tango waltz. Kress cares about fighting the erasure of femininity in mainstream spaces, music spaces and queer spaces. She also writes under the artist alter-ego, FemmeVisible. Kress is touring for her new 2017 album, "The Alchemy Show."

Left coast, traditionally based singer and writer Joe New, will write pop songs for food but prefers the nourishing sounds of deep country, soul or rock that is "rooted" in the soil of real experience. Songwriter (in between many working class forays) Levon Helm, Kiki Dee, John Mellencamp, Del McCoury Band, Paul Carrick and Nick Lowe,Squeeze, Jerry Reed, New Riders of the Purple Sage. Joe Lewis Walker, Bill Kirchen, Bob Neuwirth, The Moonlighters, Johnny Rivers, Davy Pattison and a few others(!) have recorded or performed Mr. New's tunes. A slightly higher number have enjoyed his own performances.

Local artist and Songwriter Circle Host Dore Coller has played with many artists including Big Brother & the Holding Company, Jeffrey Cain, Larry Campbell, Lacy J Dalton, Matt Eakle, Jerry Garcia, , Dan Hicks, David La Flamme (It’s a Beautiful Day), Old and In the Way, Maria Muldaur, David Nelson, Pablo Cruise, Quicksilver, Jefferson Starship, The Rowan Brothers, The Waybacks and The Youngbloods.

Over the years Dore and his groups have opened for Elvin Bishop, Los Lonely Boys, Dana Carvey, Jesse Colin Young, Foxy Collwood, R Crumb & The Cheap Suit Serenaders, High Country, Rattlebox, Mikey Dread, Dr Hook, and even made an appearance on the Gary Radnich Show on KRON TV. One of his songs ‘Silent Spring’ was the Platinum Award Winner of the Marin Earth Day 40th Anniversary Green Song Contest. Some of his most recent efforts have been concerned with local issues. His song ‘The Way It’s Supposed to Be’ about the restoration of the west peak of Mt Tamalpais was written for a video produced by Dore and reknowned filmaker Gary Yost, as well as ‘The Old Railroad Grade’ which is going to be used in an exhibit at the visitor center in Mt Tam State park.

Songwriter’s Circle provides members of some of the most popular local bands with an outlet for creative expression; musicians are able to focus on their songwriting in an intimate space and the community is invited to share in the creative process.

Singer/Songwriter Dore Coller is spearheading these sessions which highlight some of the best tunesmiths around. Come join us for a unique, intimate evening with good vibes and spectacular music.

There is an incredible wealth of talent who make their home right here in the Bay Area.
Our Sunday Sessions invite performers in to share their talents and our community in to enjoy and be inspired!
