Kimrea’s Pro Showcase on June 25th features The Doorslammers, the late great Johnny Nitro’s famous Blues Band. This blues-based quartet is comprised of keytarist/vocalist Shad Harris, bassist/vocalist Burton Winn, guitarist Joe Lococo, and powerhouse drummer Robin Roth. The Doorslammers has evolved to include soul, rock, and country music and continues to bring audiences to their feet at San Francisco’s world famous Saloon.
Join us for a fun and musically satisfying evening in the wonderfully acoustic Tivoli room at the Throckmorton. No cover – all ages welcome – a one beverage purchase requested. Come listen and discover the beauty of music in an intimate accessible setting!
MEET THE DOORSLAMMERS
Originally playing the drums for The Doorslammers, Bay Area native keytarist/vocalist Shad Harris, has toured nationally and abroad since 1966, playing drums, keyboard, guitar, and bass with award winning and Hall of Fame artists including Etta James, Charlie Musselwhite, Tommy Castro, and Johnny Nitro. Now he’s back with The Doorslammers and his heavy Blues influence is felt on Keytar and vocals.
Bassist, vocalist, and California Bay Area native, Burton Winn brings life to the groove. His resume includes traveling and recording with Bluesmen like Mark Hummel or Blues vocalist Angela Strehli; playing over 150 gigs a year at local clubs like San Francisco’s Saloon; and a eight year residency with Johnny Nitro and The Doorslammers.
Guitarist Joe Lococo, hailing from Buffalo, New York, enjoys a reputation as a top go-to session and gig player in the San Francisco Bay Area. His plays with Jules Brussard, Bobby Freemen, Kimrea, and Throwing Roses, and he brings depth and fire to The Doorslammers. Joe loves to play, “It’’s what I do, and who I am.”
Popular, in-demand, powerhouse drummer Robin Roth, aka “The Groove Queen,” is known for her driving rhythm and uplifting stage presence. Performing everything from Polka to Punk, her resume includes playing, recording and traveling with Blues singer Angela Strehli, rocker Shanna Morrison, alt-rockers Me Jane as well as many years with the late Johnny Nitro and The Doorslammers.

These musicians form the backbone of the Bay Area music scene and are established Bay Area performers, session players, sidemen and undiscovered talent! Come for some fabulous music and discover real talent!
Kimrea, a prolifically active songwriter and performing musician, taps the talent for these Sunday Sessions, as well as the supporting musicians. She and her band continue to play regularly in the Bay Area and can be found every Monday Night (For the Last 14 years and counting) performing at the Historic No Name Bar in Sausalito, California.
