Summer Sangrita: Farmers Market Cocktail Class with El Tesoro Tequila

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Learn to make tequila classics from the pros at the farmers market!
CUESA and El Tesoro® invite you to the CUESA Kitchen for an afternoon of farm-fresh cocktails in the heart of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. This hands-on cocktail focuses on the creation of a variety of seasonal sangritas (a palate cleanser native to Jalisco, Tequila’s homeland, meant to be sipped alongside the spirit).
You’ll receive hands-on instruction by a dynamic duo of cocktail professionals. Led by El Tesoro Brand Ambassador Luis Navarro and Elmer Mejicanos of Lillie Coit's, this class blends the history and knowledge of industry vets with the tricks of the trade you can’t get anywhere else.
Join us!

Toast to the start of the class with a refreshing welcome cocktail highlighting El Tesoro hand-crafted tequila and learn about this spirit's roots in sustainable agriculture

Create a classic tequila accompaniment, most often found cocktail bars and restaurants, in your home and with a farmers market twist!

Make three delicious sangrita versions customized to the season and to your taste

Incorporate insider tips from experienced tequila bartenders to perfect the creation of craft cocktails from start to finish

Meet your local farmers for an inside look at how to select the juiciest and most flavorful produce for your libations

Snack on delicious, cocktail-friendly bites

What’s a sangrita?
A sangrita is a non-alcoholic blend of juices and spices meant to be enjoyed alongside tequila. There’s no one way to make a sangrita. Some contain no chile; some no tomato juice. Many recipes exist, and we'll explore and create a few memorable and delicious varieties using freshly picked farmers market produce together in this hands-on class.
What says summer better than juicy warm-weather fruit, gathering with friends, and enjoying a craft cocktail? We look forward to seeing you there. But don’t wait to get your tickets—these classes always sell out!
About El Tesoro
El Tesoro is a truly unique, ultra-premium tequila that is double-distilled to proof. Created in the painstakingly traditional way, El Tesoro uses a Tahona wheel to crush the agave piñas before distillation at La Alteña Distillery, founded in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena.
About CUESA
Since launching the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market 25 years ago, CUESA’s mission has been to bring farmers and urban dwellers of all ages together to create a world where fresh, sustainably grown food is at the center of everyone’s plate, and family farming is viable for generations to come. Proceeds from the class provide vital funds for CUESA’s education programs like Foodwise Kids and Schoolyard to Market, which empower the next generation of healthy eaters.
