Summer 2018 – Memory Narratives: Transdisciplinary Critique Seminar

SEE EVENT DETAILS
MEMORY NARRATIVES: TRANSDISCIPLINARY CRITIQUE SEMINARIzidora Leber5 sessions >> Tuesdays, June 5–July 36:30–9:30pm, McMillan Conference Room, $245This course is for artists who desire critical feedback on their already existing (but by no means necessarily already developed) practice. All mediums welcome.
This transdisciplinary and concept-based critique seminar course will investigate the theme of memory in art history, theory, and your own art practice. The study and exploration of memory will focus our efforts as we look at how memory has played a central role for many artists throughout history, with a particular interest on contemporary artists to ground our work. Together, we will refine your aesthetic vision and offer critical engagement and feedback for each student’s artistic practice, in an environment of supportive peer artists. The class is open to artists working in two dimensional media such as drawing, painting, photography, sculpture or time-based media such as video. Class-time will be divided between viewings, readings, discussions and critique of student work—with each student receiving feedback bi-weekly. Students will pursue the theme of memory as it relates to their own work, developing individual projects based on their personal aesthetic and conceptual concerns.
