LIVE FROM THE SHARK CAGEDaniel Melo6 sessions >> Tuesdays, June 6-July 18(no class July 4)6:30-9:30 pm, MCR, $275No prerequisite – open to intermediate and advanced artists of all mediums – open to analog and digital.
Participants will explore making images by engaging in exercises that explore sound, short story, video, performance(s), walking, and more to be determined by participants. Instead of the modernist approach of exploring making photographs through a sense of authenticity or “decisive moment,” this class seeks to expand the participant’s notion of images by constructing photographs. The intersection of performance(s) and photographic history, will be explored in contemporary art and more importantly, beyond. Questions raised regarding performance documentation, stand-alone images, performance for the camera, and alternative display methods and site-specificity will also be raised.
