Suffokate was formed in Oakland in 2003 by friends Taylor and Lars who both shared a passion for metal. After several lineup changes and several years playing the San Francisco Bay Area metal scene, Suffokate released their well-received debut album, Oakland. Since then, they have toured throughout the country, opening for such established acts as Sworn Enemy, Bury Your Dead, All Shall Perish, For The Fallen Dreams, and Abigail Williams. Their music blends elements of death metal and hardcore punk, resulting in tastefully heavy songs with well-written breakdowns.
