Jay-J (Shifted Music) Jay-J is a Grammy Nominee, a prolific producer and collaborator spanning over 200 releases, a self-taught studio demon, inventor and ambassador of the San Francisco sound, an immensely popular and well-travelled DJ.  He founded Moulton Studios, the West Coast's most influential dance music studio, had his own Coke® bottle for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was the DJ for the 2006 MTV® AVMAs and launched two comp series for Defected Records, UK.  An impressive resume to be sure.  More impressive yet is his continuing self-imposed artistic development, which fuels his ceaseless obsession to learn new technical and creative aspects of his work.  He’s remixed artists from Alicia Keys, Jill Scott to Joss Stone and has collaborated with producers from Kaskade to Miguel Migs.  He possesses a drive to keep his music fresh and vital keeping him center stage in the dance music world for over 17 years.Jay-J founded and built Moulton Street Studios in 1997 and in a new location Moulton Studios from 2000 to 2005. These studios were a beehive-busy hit factory providing the public and the industry with killer music. Their client-list reads like a who's who of dance music.  Forever a slave to detail, Jay-J's own studio was a study in design innovation, aesthetics, coziness, and production possibilities encompassing tons of new and vintage outboard gear and a huge, ready-for-anything digital back end, augmented by a gorgeous live recording room.
Jay-J's incredible production and engineering talents keep him in demand and his recognition in the trade comes from the tech side as well as the creative side.  Apple, Avid / Digidesign, Sonnox, SOL Republic and others have used his music to demo their new products, tapped him as a brand ambassador or had him lead presentations at industry trade shows like AES, NAMM and the Winter Music Conference. His music production workshops have been held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Sydney and Melbourne and there’s one coming up in San Francisco later this month.Jay-J is a self-proclaimed studio geek and loves nothing more than talking about production ideas, software, plug ins, and audio hardware, except for maybe the “good old days” of record stores and vinyl.
