Art Against Assault is proud to feature Los Angeles-based muralist and mixed media artist Jennifer Korsen for our monthly artist spotlight series. Korsen's recent projects What's In Your Heart and It Happened To Me Too create a bridge between public narrative and private emotional experience by inserting personal experience into collaborative social space.
It Happened To Me Too invites participants to anonymously share their survivor experiences and (should they choose to do so) install them in public space. Korsen has also been collecting completed templates (either submitted individually or created in groups at survivor safe space gatherings) with the goal of creating a large-scale installation spanning an entire wall in downtown Los Angeles.
Well known for her signature hearts which can be found throughout Los Angeles and locations across the country, Korsen will discuss her recent work with community-driven empathic projects as well as her ongoing work in emergent techniques in art instruction.
Art Against Assault is a grassroots not for profit arts organization which seeks to break the silence surrounding sexual assault and domestic violence through the production of survivor-directed creative projects benefiting local and national resources.
This event will be limited to 20 people and hosted at B4B3L4B in Oakland, CA. Attendance is free but donations are graciously accepted to cover costs. Please RSVP to reserve your spot.
