Most people have an image of bluegrass as high-energy, foot-stomping, old timey dance music. While that's generally true, the Bay Area's Steep Ravine takes the music to a much more relaxing place. Like any really good bluegrass band, they boast some seriously talented string players (violin, mandolin, acoustic guitar, upright bass) and some impressive vocal harmonies, but they won't be playing any jamborees anytime soon. Their laid-back tunes are great to listen to over dinner-and over after-dinner drinks, as well. Fiddle player Jan Purat busts some incredible solos. (Aaron Carnes)
