The problem with a lot of modern, ultra-technical, progressive metal bands is that they come off a little clinical-forgetting that metal too has soul, even if it's evil. StarGrazer, an avant-metal band from Australia, have some insane chops, but they also breathe life (or rather death) into those mind-bogglingly challenging riffs. At its core, StarGazer is a raw earthy death metal band, complete with the guttural vocals that have been terrifying parents for decades. StarGazer more closely resemble the early technical death metal bands like Atheist, Death and Cynic, bands that inspired the movement, but whose natural intensity got lost in translation.
