The acclaimed Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble is excited to present its first performance of the academic year this Thursday in the Campbell Recital Hall on the Stanford campus. The group is presenting all-new repertoire representing the full range of the music from the Americas. We are adding a couple of entirely new twists to this concert, including our first Afro-Peruvian Festejo and the first-ever appearance of violins on a beautiful 19th century Danzón! Don’t miss it – it’s free for Stanford students!
The concert is guaranteed to be of interest to fans of either jazz and Afro-Latin music, and will be intriguing to both listening and dance-oriented audiences. The program includes songs composed or performed by famous artists such as Gilberto Gil, Arsenio Rodriguez, Israel “Cachao†Lopez, El Gran Combo, Elis Regina, Pepe Vasquez, Orlando “Maraca†Valle and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra.
The concerts are usually well attended, so get your tickets early! Hope to see you there! $15 general/$10 senior or student
