Join us for a 4-part micro-course on Jewish thought with author and educator Tamar Zaken! The workshops will consist of 4 intimate sessions through which personal and contemporary issues will be examined through the lens of Mizrahi Jewish texts. The topics of this spring series include:
1/18 Names and Identity
2/22 Women's Empowerment through Sephardic and Middle Eastern Jewish sources
3/22 Authenticity and Intersectionality
4/12 Ha Lachma Ania: Stories of Mimouna, Welcoming in Guests and Coexistence
The next session on Women's Empowerment is coming up on 2/22.
How do Masorti/Traditional Mizrahi women address issues relating to Western feminism? In this session we will concentrate on the kitchen as a center for Masorti female empowerment. What is Mizrahi feminism all about? Should it be called something else as Mizrahi feminists develop their identity in the Middle East?
