Description

FOUND OBJECT SCULPTURE: CABINETS, BOXES + TABLEAUXJoanne Easton8 sessions >> Wednesdays, February 21–April 117:30–10:30pm, Studio 105, $385No prerequisite.
Create sculptures and make arrangements using found objects that explore objects’ interrelationships. Discussion will emphasis inherent social being, object-hood, signs and signifiers, and other closely related topics to deepen our understanding of the subject. We will also explore the structure/container that the arrangements are placed within, and be introduced to artists that work in this way – utilizing cabinets, boxes, and tableaux vivants, or possibly larger spaces. We will be inspired by the work of David Ireland, Dahn Vo, Pierre Huyghe, Alicja Kwade, Katarina Fritsch, Jimmie Durham, Joseph Beuys, Joseph Cornell, Stephanie Syjuco, and Lindsey White and have class time to grow our own sculpture practice and complete assignments.
