Working with wet watercolor and aquarelle pencils is a way to make your sketching more lively and spontaneous. Instead of carefully drawing lines and coloring them in, you invert the process, splashing down watercolor and then drawing into it with loose expressive lines. This approach is very forgiving, allowing you to feel your way gradually into a drawing, discovering the scene as you build it up. The class will start with a slideshow and demonstration, but will be mostly hands-on. We'll practice applying this technique to plants, buildings and people.
A kit with a selection of watercolor pencils, watercolor paints and paper samples is included in the class fee ($16 value). However, students should bring their favorite brushes, paints and sketchbooks to try out with these materials.
